The conception of Werner Puntigam's SURROUNDING TRIANGLE series combines freely improvised music with an extraordinary "3D sound experience" for the audience! The three involved musicians are not performing on a stage as usually but take place at the edges of the concert space by forming an imaginary triangle surrounding the audience. So the listeners can experience and enjoy an outstanding highly dynamic sound cloud created by the performers sounding from three directions. These contemporary music performances fit very well and take place in conventional concert venues as well as at unconventional locations such as living rooms, churches, galleries, industrial halls, bunkers etc. And also the line-up varies from time to time, but always guarantees thrilling and exclusive sound experiences.

Special highlights so far have been SURROUNDING TRIANGLE #05 at the Trinity Church in Stadl-Paura (A) that inspired Puntigam for this extraordinary project already during his student's time at the University of Art by knowing the groundplan and architectural design only, and SURROUNDING TRIANGLE #06, that he tailor-made conceptualized for the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York (ACFNY), feat. Elliott Sharp (USA) electroacoustic guitar, Ayako Kanda (J) vocals, and himself on trombone & conch shell. This line-up of three outstanding musicians from three continents celebrated the UNESCO International Jazz Day (April 30) 2019 with a very inspired and thrilling sold out performance for the very attentive and excited audience.

And also the upcoming SURROUNDING TRIANGLE #08, offers an exclusive line-up of three unique musicians feat. Yi-Wei Yang (TW) zheng, Cordula Bösze (A) flutes, and Werner Puntigam (A) trombone & conch shell, that will do a first concert tour in Austria in June 2026.
