WERNER PUNTIGAM's concept of space unites three individual acts of differing artistic directions in a simultaneous performance for the eye and the ear. Each realization of the series is conceived exclusively to the specific location, not just with regard to the architectural circumstances, but also by changing the guest artists each time. So far 21 realizations since 1991 (detailed chronologic list below) in USA (New York), Zimbabwe (Harare), Great Britain (London), Germany (Munich), France (Valciviéres), China (Macau), Mozambique (Maputo), Taiwan (Hsinchu), Slowakia (Nove Zamky) and Austria (Vienna, Linz a.o.) with the participation of great performers such as Tom Cora (USA), Han Bennink (NL), Sainkho Namtchylak (Tuva), Marta Binetti (ARG), Jon Rose (AUS), Akemi Takeya (J), Osseus Labyrint (USA) a.o.

Three rooms, bordering one another and open to the auditorium, three performances are presented independent of one another yet taking place at the same time. Due to the partitions, visual contact with the neighbouring boxes is impossible for those involved but their ears have "acoustic insight" into the happenings next door. That means the performers have the choice of reacting to the various acoustic perceptions or of carrying on their own performing undisturbed. Quite apart from this, chance occurences are what is hoped for too. One of the "playgrounds" is constantly occupied by WERNER PUNTIGAM and his acoustic performance on trombone & conch shell or his visual projections & soundscapes from his laptop. The two other variable-capacity rooms are occupied each time by different national or international invited artists from widely varying branches (music, dance, film/video, painting, action etc.) in order to guarantee spontaneity and the singularity of each event.

Spontaneity and flexibility are not only demanded here of the artists performing, but also the listener/watcher is invited to form his/her own "sound image" of the event through his/her individual choice of viewpoint, in which the angle of viewing can be changed as often as desired. Most of all, though, the audience is recommended to open its ears and eyes wide: sensual perception of the performance has top priority!
